name: Gustavo
gender: Male
age: 18
contact details: MSN (gustavo.belem@hotmail.com) or AIM (endor4e)

how you found us:RPG Directory

about the character
full name; Captain Albion Sael Raadan
alias(es); Albion or Captain Albion
gender; Male
age; 30
blessed or untouched?; Untouched
class-type; Fighter
profession; Captain of the Sentinels
skills & lore;
• Dueling - he’s very capable of holding his own well when wielding a rapier.
• Dancing
• Playing the lute
• Military strategy – tactics, battlefield choices, war logistics and how to handle the soldier’s morale.
• First aid

the description
nationality; Emelan
appearance;

While on duty, Albion is fully equipped with the Sentinels’ complete armor set and weapons (a demand of his rank as Captain). When not, he favors simple clothes (he can be easily mistaken to be one of the poor Commons that wander through the Lower City in Tirisaa). He also despises the nobility’s fancy dressing and the excessive use of accessories (Albion himself has only a pair of ordinary silver rings without any details). His golden hair is full, cut just a little above his shoulders and his eyes are dark brown. Albion is a relatively tall and well-built individual, standing in 6’1’’ and weighing 187 lbs. There is always a pleasant smile on his face which causes a charismatic impression of him.

the traits
personality;

Albion is greatly concerned with security of others – the main reason why he joined the Sentinels instead of taking care of his family’s business as his father expected – and is altruistic enough to assist almost anyone often. He is quite thorough, frugal and abhors the squandering of material resources, enjoying simple and meaningful pleasures more than senseless hedonism. His personal life, ambitions and desires are always second place when compared to his duty, what is the main reason why he never had any long term relationships.

The Captain is comfortable working alone but feels uncomfortable
when occupying any positions of authority for he often tries to do everything himself in these scenarios, fearing that his companions and subordinates could fail during their tasks – and he doesn’t like the idea of having an scapegoat to blame for something that he should have done. Albion is interested in maintaining order and harmony in every aspect of his life. He’s steadfast and meticulous in handling his responsibilities.

Albion often talks about daily life and everyday concerns, tending to be talkative only among a close circle of friends. His shyness with strangers can make look cold to others though he’s often warm and sympathetic. He values family history, heirlooms and property as well as cultural norms and traditions. He firmly believes in the stability offered by credentials, titles, offices, birth and other forms of traditional authority. He dislikes situations where the rules are constantly changing and tries to avoid these. The Captain values traditional ways of doing things and isn’t interested in experimentation or speculation.

the history
family status; Common.
family; Irulon Raadan, father, 55 years old
Velrin Raadan, mother, deceased twenty-six years ago, at the age of 27
Alyssa Sevres (née Raadan), sister, 26 years old
Boljon Sevres, brother-in-law, 26 years old (whom works with Irulon at the goldsmithing shop)

history; Born in a humble home at Tirisaa’s Trade District, Albion is the first child of Irulon, a respected goldsmith who could produce fine pieces of jewelry, but wasn’t recognized for his work as the competition in the city was unbelievably fierce since then. Velrin ,his mother, helped his father at the small shop that they had bought a few years ago, after carefully saving a little bit of Royals. His family would be eventually completed by Alyssa, who brought something more than happiness for the Raadans, as Velrin would die because of childbirth’s complications.

Sometime after Velrin’s death, when Irulon could no longer stay home to take care of his children without compromising their decent economic condition, Albion suddenly received the responsibility for watching over his young sister. This new necessity forced him to mature quickly, as he had to sacrifice his free time with the playmates to be able to fully dedicate himself to guaranteeing a happy childhood to Alyssa, despite his own. Nevertheless, this never seemed a burden to him, but something natural, as if it was his duty to keep his young sister safe.

When Alyssa was big enough to take care of herself without her brother’s aid, Irulon decided that it was time to teach his son about goldsmithing, for he deeply wanted him to be his successor. However, Albion had already developed most of his frugal preferences and despised expensive accessories, such as the ones that his father crafted. Also, he didn’t imagined himself being a smith – instead, he longed to be a Sentinel in his heart, and began talking Irulon into it. After some time, he agreed and Albion enlisted just a few days after turning eighteen.

After being accepted in the Sentinel’s ranks, Albion was sent to the Mire where there were plenty of opportunities for a young recruit to show his dedication. Due to his commitment, he managed to be promoted until the rank of captain – he never went further because he lacked the leading spirit and adaptability, two of the most valued traits in a military commander. He is surprisingly liked in the district due to his renowned efforts while trying to bring justice and order to the poorest among Tirisaans.

Albion has already been invited to be one of the Storm Citadel’s Guards, but declined without much thinking, because he believes that he would be letting the poor (especially the ones who rely on him somehow) defenseless, as they can’t afford the same fine soldiers that the Archmage has.

etcetera etcetera
items & property; (Optional)
• A room at Tirisaa’s Sentinel barracks.
• An armor and weapon set (emblazoned with the Sentinels' heraldry)
• A rapier with slight details in gold (a gift from his father when he was promoted to the rank of Captain)

sample role play;
QUOTE
The coveting looks from the Red Anchor’s customers followed the dance moves with devoted attention. There wasn’t a single step or swirl from Onya that escaped their gaze. The only reason that dared to interrupt their concentration away from her was the gesture of searching pockets and worrying about money and calculations – what would be her price? How much would the other men pay?

Mehrak could barely refrain himself from laughing when he first noticed the desire in the audience’s eyes as they stared at the stand. The expectation of ruining the fantasies from Umbar’s elite sounded absolutely delightful to him – especially considering the fact that there was a beautiful woman involved in it. The idea that she would prefer the nobility’s gold instead of his promises of freedom wasn’t even considered by him and refusal wasn’t even a possibility in his mind. Laying back against the wall beside the doors that revealed other equally pleasant rooms of the Red Anchor, he was able to eavesdrop the conversation in the nearest tables.

- She’s spectacular!

The comment came from a table occupied by young men, whom seemed to be the same age as Mehrak’s. They wore lavish, colorful clothes and their fingers were full of rings.

- Agreed. But I must say that Suladân could have a more accurate opinion than we do.

Instantly, they all faced Suladân, who smiled faintly and whispered to them, as if telling a well-kept secret.

- She’s everything that she seems to be. Only sweeter.

His tablemates laughed, as they focused their eyes on Onya once more.

- I must say that I’m heavily considering the idea of having one more night with her. She’s absolutely inspired today!

- Well, Dalamyr told me that Narukhôr teached something to her earlier. The table’s glances focused on the one who had just spoken, demanding more details without needing words. But he was already drunk! What I understood is that she wasn’t giving him the attention that the Lord of the Docks demands.

The irony has easily perceivable in his tone, for he wasn’t worried if those words eventually reached Narukhôr’s ears. Because, if that happened, he was sure that the Lord of the Docks wouldn’t dare to move a hand against him because his father was one of the Counselors of Umbar.

- But you’re missing the best part: apparently, she preferred a sailor than Narukhôr!  Uncontrollable laughs exploded from those listening to the man.

Mehrak looked at those young men, who seemed to have real joy in mocking the Lord of Docks, with a half smile in his face – would they keep having so much fun when Onya also preferred the sailor instead of them?

A very interesting take on a Goddess Circle Dedicate. I just have a few comment/questions.
  • First, Albion's title should be "Dedicate" not "Dedicated".
  • I think you captured the typical appearance of a Dedicate perfectly.
  • You mention that he has "constant problems at the Goddess Circle Temple". Is this because religion is tied closely to politics?
  • Being a Dedicate, a discussion of Albion's religious beliefs and values is imperative.
  • I think it's fantastic that he has a vision to change society. What's incredibly interesting is the way he has chosen to do it. I would never have suspected a Dedicate to practice necromancy. This is because I view the Dedicates as extremely spiritual people with a great respect for nature and the universe. Raising the dead wouldn't seem right to them because it would be seen as disturbing the spirits of the dead. Albion seems very corrupt to be honest. Is this what you are going for. If so, you need to explain how necromancy will accomplish his goals. You need to justify his actions and explain how a Dedicate would believe necromancy is a good thing. Show how even a respected member of the Circle can be led astray.
  • If he's going to practice necromancy he needs to be very very discrete about it. It's considered evil and he could be severely punished if he was discovered.
  • From reading Albion's history, I don't really grasp why he would want to join the Circle. I need his motive. Right now, he just seems like an average mage who could have easily gone to Elmbridge. What sets him apart from the people who choose to go to there? You should refer to your discussion of his religious beliefs and values.

That's it really. I hope I haven't been too critical hehe. Think about what I've said, make the necessary changes, tie up loose ends and you'll be accepted :D

So, as you will noticed, I've changed the sheet a litte bit . This is mainly because I am completely new to RPing in english forums and not sure if I'll be able to write in other language as well as I do in Portuguese - so it doesn't look appropriate to me if I just took a character as important as a canon to be my tryout.

If I manage to handle this Albion well, who knows?

Obs: Although I do believe that I would go for the Viridian Ambassador instead of the priest ... Aw, whatever!

Gustavo, much better in my opinion. Perhaps just clarify that Albion knows "first aid" and not "healing" so no one sees that and assumes that he's Blessed. Up to you though... XD.

Other than that, congrats and welcome to Illuminŕre!
